Zimbabwe: Brendon De Jonge On the Verge of Making Fourth Cut

ZIMBABWE'S international golfer, Brendon de Jonge, was on the verge of making his fourth straight cut of the season in the Waste Management Phoenix Open in the United States yesterday. De Jonge was by last night on position 18th after he carded an impressive five-under-par 66 during the first round of the event.

The first nine saw the Zimbabwean birding holes one, two, six and eight before dropping a shot on hole number nine going into the break.

The second nine saw the De Jonge birding hole 13 and 17 to finish on five-under with the rest being pars.

Now sitting on US$121 436 in earnings this season only, the burly golfer is showing early season form and could make his breathrough US PGA career win.

Meanwhile, Borrowdale Brooke will tomorrow host the inter-schools' golf tournament.

Several schools, including St George's College, Peterhouse and Hillcrest, are expected to take part.
