Nigeria: U.S.$3 Million Bribery Scam - Farouk, Emenalo to Spend One Week At Kuje Prison

Abuja — Despite their passionate plea for clemency, an Abuja high court, Friday, ordered the immediate remand of the erstwhile Chairman and Secretary of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on fuel subsidy probe, Farouk Lawal and Mr Boniface Emenalo in prison custody.

Trial Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi ordered the accused lawmakers to go and spend one week in Kuje Prisons Abuja, pending the determination of their bail application on February 8.

The order was made shortly after the duo pleaded not guilty to a 7-count criminal charge that was preferred against them by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
