Kenya: Ex-LSK Chair O'mogeni Cleard By IEBC Tribunal

THE IEBC tribunal yesterday cleared former LSK chairman O'kongo Omogeni to vie for Nyamira senator. The tribunal, chaired by commissioner Thomas Letangule, reversed its earlier decision and gave Omogeni a go ahead to hand in his nomination papers.

Omogeni had filed a case at the High Court after the tribunal asked his competitor Abuya Abuya to hand in his nomination papers. The former LSK chair accused the IEBC of impartiality in the Nyamira senator nominations dispute.

The matter was heard by judges David Majanja, Weldon Korir and George Odunga who ordered the tribunal to hear Omogeni's dispute afresh.
