Angola: Over 40 Carnival Groups in Menongue

Menongue — At least 47 carnival group of Menongue, the capital of south-eastern Kuando Kuubango province, including children and adults, will parade in the 2013 edition of the event on January 12 in the region.

The information was released on Friday in Menongue by the provincial director of the Ministry of Culture, Paulo Vissunju.

Speaking to Angop, Paulo Vissunju said of the 47 carnival groups so far registered, 25 are for the infant category and 22 for the adult and will parade to valorise and show the Angolan culture in that region.

According to the official, Akz 5.0 million is the amount put aside by the Ministry of Culture to support the expenses of the carnival groups that will participate in this year's edition, and cover prizes and purchase of the costumes.
