Rwanda: Micho Names Team for Cranes Friendly

Amavubi Stars coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojovic has named a 24-man squad for next Wednesday's international friendly match against Uganda Cranes at Amahoro stadium.

Amavubi is placed bottom in Group H of the Brazil World Cup qualifiers and this game is aimed at preparing the team ahead of the March 22 clash against Mali.

On the same day, second-placed in Group J Uganda Cranes take on Liberia's Lone Stars away in Monrovia.

Amavubi Stars enter residential camp on Sunday at Sports View hotel. The team boosts of five professional players namely Yanga pair of Mbuyu Twite and Haruna Niyonzima, skipper Olivier Karekezi [AC Bizertin-Tunisia], Solomon Nirisarike [Antweerp-Belgium] and Jessy Reindorf [UN Namur-Belgium].

The major omission is AS Cannes striker Elias Uzamukunda, who is nursing a leg injury.

Micho's team have played three international friendly matches since last October. They played out a goalless draw away to Namibia in Windhoek and a 2-all draw in Kigali before falling to Angola 1-0 in Luanda in December.

A win against the Uganda Cranes, which is ranked 81st in the world, will definitely boost Amavubi chances of improving their Fifa World Rankings. Rwanda is ranked 137th and the next ranking will be on February 14.

Cranes started preparations on Friday at Namboole national stadium in Kampala but by press time coach Bobby Williamson had not named his squad.
