Tanzania: Airtel Donates Sh9 Million Books to Kagera Schools

AIRTEL Tanzania has donated science textbooks worth Sh9 million to secondary schools in Kagera Region.

The beneficiaries in the donation are Kanyeranyere Secondary School in Muleba District, Kirushya Secondary School in Ngara and Nyamigogo in Biharamuro. The Kagera Regional Education Officer, Mr Florian Kimolo, said lack of textbooks, teaching aid, laboratory equipment and reagents were among challenges which most secondary schools in the country currently face.

The books donated last week are for mathematics, biology and other science subjects. Mr Kimolo appealed to other corporate bodies to emulate Airtel Tanzania in supporting delivery of educational services in the country. "We thank Airtel Tanzania for their valuable support to education.

This aid guarantees us good number of science students in future," he said. The Lake Zone Airtel Sales Manager, Mr Peter Kimaro, said his firm was committed to support the government in delivery of educational services.
