Egypt: Industry Ministry Report - Imports Hit EGP 353 Billion Last Year

The volume of Egypt's imports rose to EGP 353 billion in 2012 with an EGP 53.9 billion increase against the figures of 2010 and EGP 14 billion in 2011, according to industry and foreign trade ministry report.

The report underscored that imports include engineering industries at EGP 108.5 billion, chemicals and fertilizers at EGP 52.81 billion, building materials at EGP 45.5 billion and foodstuffs industries at EGP 44.3 billion.

The trade balance deficit rose to EGP 221.4 billion in 2012 against EGP189.4 billion in 2010 due to increasing imports, added the report.
