Nigeria: Desailly Tips Eagles to Emerge Victorious

Former France international, Marcel Desailly, has said that the Super Eagles should not be ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in South Africa. Desailly, who said this in an interview on the FIFA website yesterday, noted that the performance of the Eagles under Coach Stephen Keshi had shown they were a good side.

"Nigeria, who didn't make the finals last time around, have shown with their coach Keshi that they can't be ruled out of the title," he said.

He said the Nations Cup had earned some good reputation comparable to other international competitions in terms of the standard of organisation and media coverage.

"If you compare this AFCON to the last one, you'll see that standards are leveling out.

"The AFCON has come on in lots of ways, like the organisation and media coverage, which are now up there with other international competitions," he said.
