Massawa — A total of 22 youths have received six-month training in diving and marine management.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr. Yasin Adem, Manager of Eritrea Diving and Navigation Service, explained that such training which comprised theoretical and practical aspects was organized for the first time on the basis of internal capacity. Accordingly, the training course involved various concepts of navigation techniques, diving and marine safety, among others, and the graduates are expected to play key role in the proper harnessing of the nation's marine resources, as well as promoting domestic tourism.
Capt. Leake Zeru, a resource person, pointed out that the knowledge the trainees have acquired is a crucial prerequisite as regards encouraging investment in the marine sector. A representative of the graduates on his part voiced the trainees' readiness to demonstrate excellence in their new career.
The Minister of Marine Resources, Mr. Tewolde Kelati, handed certificates to the trainees, and called on them to translate the knowledge and skills they have acquired into practice.
