Kenya: Ababu Decries Media Curbs

Cord Effect chairman Ababu Namwamba yesterday accused the state of trying to gag the media as campaigns for March 4 elections gain momentum.

The outgoing Budalangi MP claimed the move to shut down six Royal Media Services broadcast transmitters is politically motivated.

"The move by the government to shut six broadcast transmitters belonging to Royal Media Services should be condemned by all Kenyans because such days are long gone," he said. Namwamba was speaking in Kisii where he led the team to drum up support for Cord presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.
