Kenya: 200 Muslim Leaders Back Kiraitu's Bid

More than 200 Muslim leaders and Sheikhs in Meru have pledged to support Kiraitu Murungi's senatorial bid. Speaking when he hosted Muslim delegates for lunch at his Nkubu residence, the Energy minister promised to safeguard their rights.

"We want to build a Meru that accommodates everyone. Everyone has equal opportunities including all the Muslims in Meru," Kiraitu said.

He advised Muslims from Meru town, Nkubu and Maua to avoid engaging in name-calling and hate speech but develop their entrepreneurial skills and encourage issue-based politics.
