Rwanda: Gicumbi Wins Heroes Handball Tourney

Gicumbi Handball Club won this year's Heroes handball tournament after beating Police Handball Club 28-26 in the final match played on Sunday in Musanze. The tournament was organised by the Rwanda Handball Federation.

The annual competition brings together eight teams. In the semi-finals on Saturday, Gicumbi beat Nyakabanda 27 - 21, while Police overcame ESI Kigoma 29-28.

It was revenge mission accomplished for Gicumbi, who lost to Police in every competition last season.

The eight teams that took part include APR, Police, Rubavu, Gicumbi, ESI Kigoma, National University of Rwanda, Kigali Institute of Education and Nyakabanda.

In the women category, ESI Mukingi, from Gicumbi, won the trophy after beating four teams on a round-robin basis, including Duha Complex School, APAPEGI Cyuru and Saint Vincent Muhoza.
