Human Rights Watch has released its World Report for 2013, which contains a highly critical chapter on the situation in Angola. From flawed elections to violent crackdowns on peaceful protests and protestors, from the on-going lack of media freedom to brutal intimidation of human rights defenders, the chapter highlights how closed Angolan society remains and how little progress has been made in promoting basic human rights.
