I wonder what messages Mr.Yakubu Gowon and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo have for our people of Bakassi Peninsula? The former simply and unilaterally ceded the people of Bakassi and their ancestral land to late Ahmed Ahidjo of Cameroon. While the latter on 14th August 2008 went out his way and unilaterally signed the so called Green Tree Agreement brokered by a Ghanian reprobate,Koffi Annan. Chief Obasanjo shamelessly handed our people of Bakassi and their land over to Paul Biya of Cameroon. For many a Nigerian, the celebration of our nation's centenary without Bakassi and its people will have a sour taste.Besides,Nigerian project is a failed one. At this juncture, with all the rots confronting us as a nation,it were better for Nigerians to hold a referendum or a Sovereign National Conference in order to renegotiate the terms of our corporate existence.

CELEBRATING NIGERIA’S CENTENARY WITH ‘PROJECT LOTTERY’ – ANOTHER SHOW PIECE OF LEADERSHIP SICK MENTALITY, INSENSITIVITY 100 years in the life of any nation is truly a landmark worth celebrating with befitting grandeurs. However what was in display yesterday at Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power was a clear demonstration that our leaders are either short of meaningful ideas, insensitive and or mentally sick. That a nation currently brawled in bloody insurgencies terribly associated with religious mis- placements, will toy with the idea of gambling at such a packed house event of Nigeria’s celebration of its centenary calls for the examination of the brains of our leaders. One would have expected something far reaching in human value benefitting projects like the launching “NIGERIA CENTENARY UNIVERSITY” and or “NIGERIA CENTENARY HOSPITAL” that will evoke our need for unity and common good than ‘Project Lottery’ that could later be misconstrued by some religious bigots. It went far in ugly display, gambling there and then announcing the winner of iPad. For goodness gracious sake what is the worth of an IPad to many of those at the Centenary celebration parade last night. It showed a cumulative trauma disorder of the centenary planners selling dead ducks to the nation’s leaders bereft of good ideas.
