Angola: Acting Governor Defends Strengthening of Patriotism

Huambo — The acting governor of the central Huambo Province, Francisco Fato, on Monday here defended the need for citizens to strengthen patriotism, aimed at honouring the ideals of the heroes of 04 February 1961 (start of the armed struggle against colonialism).

"It is necessary to develop and improve patriotism in citizens, mainly in young people, in the sense of being a defender of the integrity of the homeland (...), both in the country and abroad, as a way to honour the heroic bravery of our forefathers", he stressed.

Francisco Fato made this statement to ANGOP in the ambit of the 04 February celebrations, adding that this date is a landmark on Angolan history, because that action led to the proclamation of national independence on 11 November 1975.

According to Francisco Fato, the growth of Angola, as a result of the independence and the last ten years of effective peace, continues to be incomparable, having into account the stability observed in all domains.
