Nigeria: Edo Lawmaker Kidnapped

Benin — A member of Edo State House of Assembly Victor Edoror has been kidnapped.

Edoror, representing Esan Central local government area in the assembly was kidnapped on Sunday evening by unknown gunmen.

Speaker Edo state House of Assembly Hon Uyi Igbe, who confirmed the kidnapping, said Edoror was kidnapped in Irrua on Sunday evening in company of his driver

The speaker said the assembly was informed of the kidnap by wife of the lawmaker, adding that no contact has been established between the abductors and the family.

He said the house suspended plenary till next week in protest of the kidnapped colleague who is considered as a very vibrant member of the house.

Edo State police public relations officer ASP Ejiroro Awahra said the police are investigating the matter.
