Namibia: Iyambo Repatriation Date Not Yet Known

THE date of the repatriation of the body of the late Education Minister Abraham Iyambo has not yet been set, Cabinet Secretary Frans Kapofi said yesterday.

A meeting was held yesterday to discuss the logistics and arrangements, Kapofi said, adding that "the nation will be informed in time".

The public has also been asking whether the late minister will be buried at the Heroes' Acre in Windhoek.

Kapofi said yesterday that "all those things will be communicated in due course".

Iyambo died on Saturday, on his 52nd birthday, in London where he was attending an education conference. The cause of death remains unclear. Senior government officials have been tight-lipped, but The Namibian understands that the minister died of a stroke.
