Egypt: Shura Council Discusses Protest Law

The Shura Council (SC) Arab, Foreign and National Security Committee discussed on Monday 4/2/2013 a draft protest law.

The bill gives the right to army officers, policemen and judges to stage protests.

The SC has the right to amend or add any article in the bill, which will be referred by the government to the council for endorsement, said Justice Ministry's representative counselor Omar Marwan.

Marwan, meanwhile, said the bill obliges the organizer of a protest to inform security forces of the place and time of the scheduled protest before hand.
