Kenya: 50 Student Leaders Back Joho Governor Bid

Transport assistant minister Hassan Joho yesterday got a boost in his bid for the Mombasa governor seat after about 50 student leaders from the county declared their support.

Addressing a press conference at Kizingo, the student leaders drawn from 12 tertiary institutions described Joho as a 'servant leader' and 'great man'. Through their spokesman Washe Chisenga, the student leaders said Joho's manifesto favours students the most.

"We feel Joho has captured the issues that affect us as students and provides solutions to them more than any other candidate," said Chisenga.

The students also called for peace and urged fellow youth to exercise restraint when political temperatures rise especially during the campaign period.
