Kikuyu Council of Elders have appealed to TNA to consider Catherine Muthoni Kihara for a direct nomination after she allegedly stepped down for Yusuf Hassan of Kamukunji constituency during the party's nominations.

Speaking yesterday in Kasarani, the elders' chairman Wachira Kiago said they had asked Kihara to step down for the "sake of the bigger picture" in Kamukunji. Kiago said she deserves to be given a direct nomination to represent people with disabilities and women in general.

"We prevailed on Kihara not to contest during the TNA's nominations for Kamukunji and she agreed," said Kiago. "It is only proper that she is rewarded, because she listened to us."
