Kenya: Kilifi Candidate Vows to Fight for Women

KILIFI county women representative aspirant on a Kenya National Congress party has said she is ready to fight for women rights and poverty in the region.

Speaking to the Star yesterday, Betty Kitsao said when a woman is empowered the whole family is also empowered adding that she is fit for the job because of her six years work experience with the local women.

"I have worked with women, empowering them and even received an international award for spearheading the rights of local Mijikenda women," she said.

Kitsao received the World Women Summit Forum award on October 15 2011 in Geneva Switzerland for being at the fore front championing for the empowerment of Kilifi women through self help groups initiatives. She said she has helped establish 150 women groups with about 3,000 members.
