Uganda: Exam Results Out On Thursday

The 2012 Uganda Certificate of Education Examinations results will be released on Thursday.

Both the Uganda National Examinations Board and the education ministry have confirmed the awaited release.

Education and sports minister Maj. Jessica Alupo,in a telephone interview said: "We will have the release of Senior Four results on Thursday, to avail parents, head teachers and principals with time to prepare Senior Five students for the start of their first term as scheduled."

The function to release examinations is open to invited guests and the media only. Head teachers will be expected to pick their schools' results forms and slips later in the day from the headquarters of UNEB.

"We are set to have the results released on Thursday morning. We have already communicated to the ministry and they have agreed to the date," UNEB's spokesman Hamis Kaheru said last evening.'

Last year, fewer students totalling to 268,385 registered for the Senior Four national examinations, compared to 2011, where 273,363 registered.

Selection for Senior Five candidates is expected to take place next week. However, the specific dates for the selection exercise are yet to be confirmed.
