Gambia: Hawks Secures First Win

Hawks FC returned to the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium for the third week running on Saturday and beat their arch rivals Young Africans 2-0 to secure their first win of the season.

Hawks captain converted a spot-kick after defender Abdoulie Njie intentionally handled the ball inside the box in the 45th minute. Abdoulie Njie was also sent off.

Coming into the second half, Momodou Jargne's strike made it 2-0 for his side in the 76th minute.

Speaking in an interview with reporters, the head coach of Young Africans, German Mike Totzke, said that he appreciates his boys' performance as it is football, adding that after the red card showed to his player, his side came to the second half playing very well.

For his part, the head coach of Hawks, Sang Ndong, said that he is somehow satisfied with the result adding that his side should have capitalised more on their chances as their opponents were one man down since in the first half.
