Gambia: Brikama's Performance in First Win Impresses Coach

The assistant coach of Brikama United FC, Modou Lamin Nyassi, has said that he was very impressed with his side's performance following their first win of the campaign at the weekend.

Nyassi was speaking to reporters shortly after his side beat 10-man Gamtel 1-0 in week three of the domestic premier league campaign played at the Box Bar Mini-Stadium in Brikama on Saturday.

He said following hard fought stalemates in their opening two games, it was important for the team to secure its first win.

The two sides nullified each other in the park for much of the game until the telecommunication giants were reduced to ten-men in the remaining quarter of an hour. Brikama then stepped up the gear and secure a last minute winner courtesy of Yankuba Jarjue's 88th minute goal.

Nyassi described Tapha Manneh's Gamtel as a tough competitor for the league. He added that the new players that came to replace the exodus of players in the off-season are gelling very well.

Commenting on his next game at the weekend against Steve Biko, the assistant coach of the 'Sateba' Boys said they will start doing their home work in order to take another three points from that game too.
