Egypt's Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr called on the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to offer more support to the Palestinian people in facing Israel's attempts to annex more Palestinian lands and change the identity of the Holy city of Jerusalem.
This came during a ministerial meeting of NAM's Palestine Committee held on Tuesday 5/2/2013, on the sidelines of the Islamic foreign ministers meetings ahead of the 12th Islamic summit slated for Wednesday 6/2/2013.
NAM should offer necessary support to the Palestinian cause until a decision on the establishment of the Palestinian state is taken, he said, adding that this requires further efforts in order to protect Jerusalem as a capital of this state and the Palestinian territories in general.
He underlined the need to reach Palestinian reconciliation and end division. He also stressed Egypt's intention to exert more efforts in this respect.
The committee meeting was chaired by Iran in its capacity as the current NAM chair.
