Windhoek — The first round proper of the revamped annual Bidvest Namibia Knockout Cup competition gets underway in earnest this weekend.

There will be plenty of action but none of the matches have piqued as much interest as the Katutura derby between traditional rivals FNB Orlando Pirates and Black Africa, as the two giants go toe to toe, barely a fortnight after their penultimate league clash in which the Gemengde-based outfit Black Africa triumphed.

Matches between these two giants never fail to ignite the ordinary football fan and Sunday's clash of the titans at the Sam Nujoma Stadium should be no exception, with the followers of the Ghosts getting sick and tired of having to play second fiddle to their more illustrious neighbours time and again.

Brian Isaacs' charges are on the verge of claiming a rare cup double with their current form, and average football fans cannot be faulted for betting their last penny on Black Africa to come out tops against their old foes for the umpteenth time in as many encounters.

All together 16 matches will be played at two different venues, which are the Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb and the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek respectively. In Tsumeb, Mama Love hosts Omafo United; Young Braves entertain Sailors; Tigers are up against Onambula United and United Stars confront Civics, while Eleven Arrows square off against King Fisher.

Action returns to the Oscar Norich Stadium on Sunday, with Ramblers up against Nexus Building Pubs in the opening match at 10h00.

Chelsea vs Rundu Chiefs; Mighty Gunners will have a date with Ongwediva City and African Stars will be out to cement their wide open cup double chances at the expense of lower division campaigners Tropical Heat in the final match at 16h00.
