Egyptian, U.S. Defense Ministers Confirm Enhancing Military Relations

Defense Minister Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi and his US counterpart Leon Panetta expressed support to the Egyptian-US cooperation in the field of defense.

Moreover, the two ministers discussed the necessity of resuming security support to Egypt to enable the Armed Forces to continue the implementation of the common security goals.

Panetta stressed the US commitment to the bilateral defense relations between the two countries.

He, further, hailed efforts of Sisi to achieve the joint security goals of both countries, including Sinai and boarder security.

These statements came in a phone call made by Panetta to Sisi, according to a statement by the Pentagon Spokesman George Little on Tuesday 5/2/3013.

Also, Sisi reiterated the commitment of the Egyptian Armed Forces to Peace Treaty with Israel. Besides, he stressed his commitment to preventing the use of Sinai as a base to threaten Israel.
