Photo: Facebook AB Logistics Limited, a company belonging to former Republican President Rupiah Banda's son, Andrew was registered under the same physical address with that of Fratelli Locci SRI, an Italian company, a witness told the court yesterday.
This is in a matter in which Banda is facing one count of gratification for giving assistance on contracts to Fratelli Locci.
Andrew 52, being First Secretary at the Zambian Embassy in Italy at the time and later Deputy High Commissioner to India, solicited and agreed to receive two per cent of all money paid to Fratelli Locci SRI by the Road Development Agency.
Liywali Mukelebai 38, an inspector of companies at Patent and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) said both AB Logistics and Fratelli Locci SRI, were registered with PACRA on the same address.
Mr Mukelebai, however, said during cross-examination that there was nothing sinister about registering two companies with a similar physical address.
According to documents produced before court from Pacra, both companies had the address of number Six, Mpulungu Road, Olympia Park in Lusaka.
Mr Mukelebai said after he received investigating officers at his office who wanted to find out whether AB Logistics and Fratelli Locci were both registered under Pacra, he learnt that both companies were registered but they had a similar physical address.
Trial continues today.
