East Africa: Turkish Parliament Extends Anti-Piracy Mandate for Horn of Africa

The Turkish parliament on Tuesday (February 5th) approved a resolution extending the mandate of its navy ships to participate in anti-piracy missions in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea for one more year, Turkey's Anatolia News Agency reported.

Turkey has 13 frigates based in the Gulf of Aden contributing to ongoing anti-piracy efforts, Defence Minister Ismet Yilmaz said.

The mandate will now expire on February 10, 2014.
