Kenya: Fears Over Embu Revenge Attacks

Police in Embu are on a high alert following reports that a gang is planning revenge attacks on residents of Grogon slums. A man caught stealing from a house in the slums on Saturday night was lynched by residents.

Residents beat up the man, only identified as Mucoki, before setting him on fire. Embu West acting DC Daniel Obudo yesterday said security has been beefed up in the slums following reports that the gang is planning to avenge Muchoki's death.

"We have asked the residents to be cautious and to report any suspicious person to the police. Investigations to arrest members of the gang who are said to be hiding in the slums are ongoing," said Obudo. Muchoki's body was taken to the Embu Provincial General Hospital mortuary by the police.
