Kenya: Bomett Picks His Deputy

Former Commissioner at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission Reverend Lawrence Bomett has picked Nakuru lawyer Elizabeth Omwenyo as his running mate.

Bomett who was the third governor candidate to be cleared by Nakuru County returning officer Catherine Kiarie will vie on an ODM ticket. Drama surrounded his last minute pick of the 59 year old lawyer who is the only woman candidate for the deputy Governor's position in the county.

Bomett and Omwenyo were eventually cleared by the IEBC a few minutes before the deadline. He assured his supporters that if elected governor, he would strive to make Nakuru a model county in the region given its proximity to counties such as Laikipia, Nyandarua and Baringo. He promised to unite the people of Nakuru beyond their ethnic identities and improve the infrastructure in the region.
