Kenya: Four Deny City Bar Assault

Four men were yesterday charged in a Kibera court with seriously injuring a person in a bar fight. Mohamed Mughal, Mohammed Rehaan, Muzamil Ahmed and Abdul Kader denied assaulting Nikhil Ravi on January 20 at the Hangama Bar and Restaurant in Parklands, Nairobi. The police said the four beat up Ravi when a disagreement ensued between them. He was taken to the MP Shah hospital for treatment.

Cliff Ombeta, the suspect's lawyer, told principal Magistrate Laetisha Wachira that the four are in talks with Ravi to have the case withdrawn. Wachira imposed a Sh200,000 bond or a Sh100,000 bail on each of the four suspects.

The case will be mentioned on February 19 when the two parties will say whether they have agreed on a withdrawal. It will be heard on April 25 if they fail to agree on a withdrawal.
