Kenya: Sh0.5 Million Con Suspects Bailed Out

Two men yesterday denied conning three women by pretending they could recruit their sons into the Kenya Defense Forces. Ibrahim Chemiat, 39, and James Odhiambo, 30, are facing charges in a Kibera court for falsely obtaining Sh250,000 from Linet Kawesa, Sh242,000 from Melisa Migalitsa and Sh67,000 from Nelly Luchesi. Chemiat and Odhiambo allegedly committed the offense last September.

The two asked principal magistrate Laetisha Wachira to order the investigating officer to supply them with copies of the witness statements and the evidence it will use against them in the trial.

The two allegedly told the three women that they have connections that could help enroll their sons into KDF. They were each released on a Sh500,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount. The case will be heard on April 24.
