Reps Theatre has released the names of nominees for Reps Afdis Awards for 2012, covering all Repertory Players productions staged in Reps Theatre and in Theatre Upstairs during the past year.
The awards ceremony will take place at Reps on Saturday March 9, when winners of each of the categories will be named.
Each year the Reps Afdis Awards are handed out in recognition of achievement and effort and to reward and encourage excellence, covering all Repertory Players productions staged during the previous year.
Nominees for 2012
The John Keeling Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role
Zoran Zec and Musa Saruro (both in Leading Ladies); Paul Shephard and Ryan Lawrence (Boeing Boeing).
The George Barnes Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role
Vanessa Vos (Table Manners), Chipo Chikara (Leading Ladies), Amy Bolt (Peter Pan) and Erin Sticklen (Chapter Two).
The Alan Parkinson Award for Best Supporting Actor
Larry Greef (Hairspray), John Dennison (Table Manners), Mufaro Muyambo (Hysterical History of the TrojanWar), Stephane Thomas (Peter Pan), Mike Blackburn (Boeing Boeing) and Adriano Gorassini (Julius Caesar).
The Allan Shaw Award for Best Supporting Actress

The Prentice Trophy for Best Minor Performance

The Sue Greener Technical Award

The Hugh Dornhurst Trophy for best first Reps performance

All Reps productions, stage managers, amateur directors and properties people automatically go forward as nominees in their respective categories.
Three special awards will be won for individual contribution to the Repertory Players, at judges discretion: Adrian Stanley Award, Steve Bonney Award and Munro trophy.
The awards are sponsored by African Distillers and the award for Best Production of the Year is the Oude Meester Award of Excellence.
