Johannesburg — The goalkeeper of Angola's Interclube, Wilson Alegre, on Tuesday in Johannesburg said it is time for Angolans to reflect on the state of the country's football, otherwise the country is running the risk of compromising any attempt to make this sport evolve.
Wilson Alegre, who is in South Africa on a training programme with his team, spoke to the press about the performance of Angola and Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON2013), having stressed that the Angolan football needs the contribution of people with seriousness and willingness to work.
"As regards the country's football, we should stop and think about what we want, similarly to what happened in Cape Verde, with the sports authorities of that country investing to get results like a first time qualification for the AFCON and passing to the quarterfinals", he said.
Wilson Alegre, who represented the national team several times- last time being the AFCON2010 in Angola- said he did not understand the posture of the national squad at the AFCON 2013, eliminated in the group stage when during the preparation they had victories and draws, as well as showed good harmony.
