The Gambia's home based Scorpions Wednesday defeated premier league side Steve Biko in a five-goal thriller played at the Football Association's FIFA Goal Project in Yundum.
The game, according to the Media Officer of The Gambia Football Association, Bakary Burama Baldeh, serves as continuing process of building a local-based team by the Italian-born coach Luciano Mancini who decided to invite the giant killers for the preparatory game.
The game also served as a warm-up for Abdoulie Bojang's Steve Biko who are preparing for their fourth game of the new domestic Gambian premier league season following their last weekend's 3-1 hammering of Samger.
Gamtel's Modou Conteh alias Base and Brikama Utd's Ebou Kanteh scored the opening two goals for the home-based Scorpions before Hawks Omar Sarr's final tap-in ensured the win. Musa Bojang and Saikou Conteh scored for the Bakau-based club.
Mancini and the Steve Biko coach Abdoulie Bojang both expressed delight with the game.
