Liberia: Gesture to a Struggling School Laudable

A gesture to a struggling school in Bensonville, Montserrado County is laudable. This is very necessary so as to motivate the giver to do more.

Recently, Samaritan's Purse International Relief through its Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Department donated several academic materials to the First Century School in Bensonville, Montserrado County, a struggling institution.

The donated items by the Samaritan's Purse International Relief, a humanitarian organization operating in the country, included: copybooks, text books, sharpeners, book bags, pencils, uniforms and shoes.

The Samaritan's Purse International Relief, we are told, is currently assisting over 3,000 children in Montserrado, Margibi and Lofa Counties through the support and sponsorship of the Global Fund.

Before the organization made the donation, we are further told, authorities of the First Century School had sent out several SOS calls for support, which aims to make the institution viable.

For us, we cannot allow this kind gesture by Samaritan's Purse International Relief to the First Century School to go unnoticed owing to the timeliness of the donation.

Truthfully, the donation came at the time the First Century School, which is providing education for the youth, is in dire need of support.

We thank the Samaritan's Purse International Relief the gesture. We call on other humanitarian organizations and people of goodwill to emulate the kind gesture by the organization.

In this vein, we urge the beneficiary to use the donated items for the intended purpose. When the donated items are used for the intended purpose, we believe, this will motivate the benefactor to do more.

Again, the gesture to the struggling school in Bensonville is laudable.
