Kenya: Streamline Collection of Tea ? NVP Man

A parliamentary candidate yesterday asked a tea factory in Nyamira county to streamline the collection of tea leaves from buying centres.

Kitutu Chache South National Vision Party candidate Leonard Mwamba petitioned Tombe Tea Factory to improve its green leave collection.

Speaking during a road show in the constituency Mwamba said: "the issue of delay in collecting tea leaves must be addressed because farmers incur huge losses."

The candidate said some farmers have resorted to selling their crop to brokers from multinational tea companies in Nyamira, Kericho and Bomet counties at throw away prices.
