Kenya: Woman Stabbed to Death, Daughter Raped

A 40-year-old business woman was murdered and her 17-year-old daughter defiled at Manguo slums in Nyahururu after two men broke into their home.

Speaking to the Star yesterday, Nyandarua North OCPD Benjamin Onsongo said the criminals seemed to be on a revenge mission because they escaped without stealing anything after committing the heinous act.

He said the attackers struck at 8pm and first attempted to rape the woman who resisted. They stabbed her with a knife then turned on the girl, raped her while the woman lay writhing in pain and bleeding profusely before disappearing into the darkness.

Onsongo said the girl screamed attracting neighbours who took her and her mother to Nyahururu District Hospital where the mother was pronounced dead on arrival.

He said the girl is still admitted at the same hospital and doctors say she is out of danger. Onsongo said investigations have been launched but so far no arrests have been made.
