Uganda: Take 5 - Gospel Rap Artiste, Muro

Ronald Mutumba, aka Muro, is a gospel rap artiste. He is known for his Luga-flow smooth rhymes, which are a blend of English and Luganda.

He is also the coordinator at Living Springs Ministries, where he and the team minister through dance. He filed five questions with Samson Baranga.

Who is Muro?

My name comes from Mutumba Ronald. Muro was given to me by a friend while in high school in 2004. I am a Christian rap artiste and dancer.

When did you get in the game [music]?

I have been in the game since 2005 but I took it to a professional level in 2007.

Have you recorded an album so far?

I have recorded many singles like Yabasinga, Night and Day, Free and Mighty, which have done well on the Christian airwaves. My first album will be released this May.

Who are some of the musicians you have collaborated with so far?

I have worked with Mac Elvis, Crystal Fabulous, Robin San, Sami Kay, and Patricia Mujungu, among others. I have also done a collabo with Ace The Riddler from Sacramento. Gospel music is winning and will continue to win many more souls for Christ.

How about the dancing?

I have worked with Living Springs Ministries and Yutta Konvikts, with whom we did a production, Death is Calling, at the National Theatre.
