Nigeria: MPN Declares Force Majeure

Mobil Producing Nigeria, operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC)/MPN Joint Venture today confirms that it has declared a Force Majeure due to the difficulty in meeting projected liftings because of repair work on a section of the joint venture's pipeline.

Force Majeure is a legal term that absorbs suppliers from responsibility for inability to meet target schedules.

We are working to minimize down-time and have notified appropriate regulatory agencies and purchasers. We regret any inconveniences this may cause our customers.

MPN continues to produce oil from the facilities that are not covered by Force Majeure. Qua Iboe terminal is operating, the company said.
