Nigeria: Police Arrest Two Over Murder of Imo Deputy Governor's Aide

The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of Mr Laz Anyanwu, the Chief Protocol Officer to the Deputy Governor of Imo.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Vitalis Onugu, said the suspects were arrested by men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Anambra.

Onugu said signals were sent to other commands following the incident.

He said the police in Anambra who were investigating the suspects in connection with a robbery incident, arrested the suspects.

The spokesman said the suspects confessed committing the murder during interrogation and were transfer to the Owerri Command.

Onugu said three AK47 rifles, 280 AK 47 Ammunitions and 23 magazines were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects confessed to the murder during interview with newsmen.

The News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Anyanwu was killed in January by gunmen.
