Nigeria: Court Acquits Woman Over Alleged Murder of Husband

Mrs Hadiza Abutu who has been standing trial in an Abuja High Court over alleged murder of her husband Ibrahim was today acquitted and discharged.

Delivering judgement, Justice Abba Mohammed held that the prosecution failed to prove a case of culpable homicide and against the accused person.

Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) had on January 20, 2012 arraigned Hadiza on two counts charge of culpable homicide and the destruction of evidence over the death of Ibrahim in his bedroom.

She had been alleged to have shot her husband to death in their residence at No 61 Parakou Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja on December 28, 2011.
