Nigeria: PHCN Installs 189,000 Pre-Paid Meters in Lagos

Lagos — The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Lagos has distributed about 189,572 pre-paid meters to its customers in the last eight years.

Pekun Adeyanju, Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Zone said about 85,026 of the meters have been installed in the zone.

According to him, the figure represents 55 per cent of installed pre-paid meters in the zone from November 2010 to December 2012.

Mr. Godwin Idemudia, the Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Eko Electricity Distribution Zone, said that about 104,546 pre-paid meters were installed in the zone from May 2004 to December 2012.

He said the zone is working round the clock to ensure that it meets the 18-months deadline set by the federal government to install these meters in every home in Lagos.
