Namibia: Arandis Junior Town Council Sworn in

THE Arandis Junior Town Council for 2013 was sworn in on Tuesday.

The junior councillors were all selected from the Grade 12 class of the Kolin Senior Secondary School - one of the top-performing schools in the Erongo Region in last year's Grade 12 examinations.

The junior council's first project is to work on the fencing of the Arandis dumpsite. They will consult with nearby mines, the Erongo Regional Council and the Arandis constituency office of Asser Kuveri Kapere on how to collect the necessary funds for the project.

Some of the other important projects they will work on this year are the housing and welfare of the elderly, upgrading the amphitheatre for film and drama productions, and education issues.
