Gambia: Dutch National to Be Deported for Photographing Naked Lady

The Bundung Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Landing M. Sanneh, Wednesday made an order for the deportation of one Cornelio Van Looij, a Dutch national, with immediate effect.

The magistrate's decision came following a judgement he delivered on a single criminal count charge of indecent assault pressed against Van Looij. The magistrate discharged and acquitted the accused of the single charge, but made an order for his immediate deportation back to his native country, Holland.

The particulars of offence stated that on the 26th January 2013 at Mansea Beach Hotel in Kololi in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused unlawfully and indecently assaulted one Fatoumatta Mballow, by obtaining some photos of her naked thereby committed an offence.

Magistrate Sanneh said he considered the age of the accused, who is 67 and a diabetes patient. He also noted that the complainant in the case is 30 years old. The magistrate further made an order for both the digital camera and the photographs recovered from the accused to be forfeited to the state. Sgt. 1674 Ceesay stood for the IGP.
