Gambia: Man Charged With Threatening Violence, Going Armed in Public

Abdoulie Sanyang, a resident of Latrikunda German, was on Wednesday arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sheriff Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court. He is charged with threatening violence and going armed in public, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that the accused on 2nd February 2013, at Latrikunda German, threatened to stab one Haddy Sambou with a knife, thereby committed an offence.

On count two, the accused is charged with going armed with a knife at a Bar and Restaurant without any authority, thereby committed an offense. The accused pleaded not guilty on both counts.

However, the prosecutor 1781 Sergeant Kinteh applied for an adjournment to call his witnesses. The magistrate also ordered for the accused to be remanded in prison until the next hearing. The case continues on the 11th February, 2013.
