Liberia: 'I'm the Face of the Campaign'

"On behalf of the hard working team here at Green Advocate and the communities that we've committed to serve, we want to accept this reward...certainly, I am being used as a symbol and face of this campaign..." Attorney Alfred Brownell said during an honoring ceremony.

Speaking at the presentation of certificate of honor from the management of The NEWS newspaper Thursday as "Man of the Year 2012", Atty. Brownell said the campaign would not have been possible over the years without the commitment and dedication of the staff of the institution and the support of the community members who have stood by the institution in the process.

"We've been working to empower and ensure that the rights of the communities, including right to social economic advancement are surely secured and protected in this country....so, we want to dedicate this award to them..." Atty. Brownell said.

Making remarks earlier, The NEWS Managing Editor Sheriff Z. Adams said the honor bestowed on the institution was based on the advocacy role it played and continues to play for the people of Liberia.

Mr. Adams said not only that the institution has advocated for the rights of the ordinary Liberian, it has also been able to educate the citizens about the legal processes and procedure in the acquisition of lands in the country.
