South Africa: Top Local Government Players Warned

press release

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube has this morning Thursday, 7 February 2013 called on the senior leadership in the local government fraternity to work harder to ensure there are no cases of irregular and wasteful expenditure, which, if unattended to, may lead to negative audit outcomes.

Among other issues brought up, she warned that if councillors do not become more actively involved on this issue, the dream of Operation Clean Audit by 2014 may not be realised.

She was addressing the provincial executive of the KwaZulu-Natal arm of Salga during its annual lekgotla sitting at Salt Rock Hotel, Ballito, over the next two days, 7 and 8 February 2013.
