Teachers in Migori have urged the Kenya National Union of Teachers, to call a strike over the Sh25 billion in allowances owed to them by the gov- ernment. The teachers said strike is "the only language the government understands".
The teachers said history has shown that the government has never negotiated with the teachers "unless we go on strike and de- mand for our rights".
"We are ready to down our tools and we ask the Knut national leaders to call the strike urgently," said Charles Katege, Migori Knut secretary "We must agitate for what is rightfully ours. We don't want the government taking us around in circus."
